FAQ
Couture
What does couture mean at 23RD & MADISON?
Our couture gowns are made to order by skilled artisans who specialise in couture bridal. To order is to commission one of our designs, made for you by hand over the five to seven months that follow.
Will my gown look exactly like the sample?
Each gown is made entirely by hand. The fall of the fabric and the placement of every appliqué are worked one gown at a time, so no two are ever quite alike. This is the signature of couture.
How long does a couture gown take?
Five to seven months from the day you order.
When will my gown ship?
Once your gown is complete and has passed our quality checks, you will receive a shipping confirmation with tracking.
Can you make my gown sooner?
Tell us your date when you order. If it falls sooner than our usual timeline, contact our team to discuss a priority timeline.
What size will my gown be made in?
Couture can be ordered in our standard AU 4-16 size range or created made-to-measure by arrangement. For made-to-measure orders, we will guide you through the measurements required before your gown moves into final cut and construction.
What does made-to-measure mean?
For our couture gowns, made-to-measure allows your piece to be created to your individual measurements rather than a standard size. We will guide you through the measurements required and work with our atelier to develop the fit of your gown.
The process can be completed remotely, so an in-person appointment is not required.
Where a sample try-on and fit consultation is available, the gown tried on will be a standard-size floor sample. Your own gown is made separately to your measurements, so the sample fit will not be an exact reflection of your finished piece.
As with all bridal gowns, final tailoring may still be recommended once your gown arrives, particularly for hem length, personal fit preference or any changes in measurements. Any final alterations are the responsibility of the client.
Do I need an in-person appointment for made-to-measure?
No. Our made-to-measure process can be completed remotely and we will guide you through all required measurements. In-person appointments, when available, are an optional sample try-on and fit consultation rather than a fitting of your own gown.
Will I need alterations?
As with all bridal gowns, final tailoring with a local bridal seamstress may still be recommended once your gown is received, including for hem length, personal fit preference or changes in measurements. Unless otherwise agreed in writing, final alterations are the responsibility of the client.
Can I change or cancel my couture order?
Your gown enters production the moment your order is placed. For this reason, couture orders cannot be changed or cancelled once placed, and are final sale.
